Oats Veg Chapathy/Roti



   Oats Veg Chapathy / Roti:

Ingredients:
·        Wheat flour – 1 cup
·        Oats – ½ cup
·        Onion – 1 finely chopped
·        Grated Carrot – ¼ cup
·        Ginger garlic paste – 1 spn
·        Cabbage – ¼ cup finely chopped(optional)
·        Green leaves – 3 spns chopped(optional)
·        Red chilli powder – ½ spn
·        Coriander leaves – 1 spn chopped
·        Cumin seeds – ½ spn
·        Salt as needed
·        Oil as needed

Preparation :
·        Wash ,peel and chopped all the veggies.
·        Grind oats into a fine powder.
·        Then mix powdered oats with wheat flour and add little oil.

Method :
·        Then add all the other ingredients with the wheat – oats mixture.
·        Mix well. Add water a few tablespoons at a time and knead as soft and smooth dough.
·        Make equal lemon sized balls and set aside for 30 mins.
·        Prepare chapathys by rolling out a lemon sized amount of dough on a flour dusted surface.
·        Do it gently as it tends to tear easily.
·        Heat dosa tawa , add the roti carefully, cook till it lightly turns colour, flip over and cook the other side till light brown spots starts appearing. Done!
                                      

Oats veg chapathy/roti is ready..serve hot with kurmas of your choice.. J

Oats Sweet Pongal



         Oats  Sweet Pongal:


Ingredients :
·        Oats – ½ cup
·        Split moong dal – ¼ cup
·        Water – 3/4cup
·        Jaggery – ½ cup
·        Salt – pinch(optional)

For seasoning:
·        Ghee – 2 spn
·        Cashew – 3 quatered

Preparation :
·        Wash and pressure cook the moong dal with enough water until mushy.
·        To make seasoning: heat ghee in a  pan ,roast the cashew till golden brown. keep it aside.

Method :
·        Heat ghee in a heavy bottomed pan,add oats and sauté it till oats gets lightly roasted.
·        Then add 3/4 cup of water and keep stirring until the oats is cooked.
·        Put the jaggery and allow the jagery to melt into the oats mixture.
·        Then add cooked moong dal .check the taste and adjust the sweetness.
·        Cover and cook it on low flame.
·        Atlast add the seasoning mixture to the oats sweet pongal and mix well everything.
                                
                                       
Oats sweet pongal is ready..serve hot ..J
  

Oats Ven Pongal



      Oats Ven Pongal:
Ingredients :
·        Oats – ½ cup
·        Split moong dal – ¼ cup
·        Water – 3/4cup
·        Salt as needed
For seasoning:
·        Ghee – 2 spn
·        Pepper – 1 spn
·        Cumin seeds – 1 spn
·        Ginger – ½ inch chopped
·        Curry leaves few
·        Cashew – 3 quatered(roasted)
·        Green chilli – 1 chopped (optional)

Preparation :
·        Wash and pressure cook the moong dal with enough water until mushy.
·        To make seasoning: heat ghee in a  pan ,roast the cashew till golden brown. then add ginger, pepper,cumin seeds, curry leaves and give stir for a few secs and keep it aside.

·        Then add 3/4 cup of water and keep stirring until the oats is cooked.
·        Then add cooked moong dal and add salt.
·        Cover and cook it on low flame.

Oats Kesari



      Oats Kesari:


Ingredients :
·        Oats – 1 cup
·        Milk – 2 ½ cups
·        Cashew – 5 sliced
·        Almonds – 5 shaved
·        Raisins – 7 sliced
·        Dates – 4 sliced
·        Sugar – 5 to 7 spn
·        Banana – ½ cut into small pieces (optional)
·        Cardomam powder – ½ spn

Preparation :
·        Dry roast the oats in a pan for 3 to 4 mins.

Method:
·        In a pan,add milk,cashew,almonds,raisins ,dates, sugar  and cardomom
·        Boil for about 5 mins.
·        Add roasted oats and let it boil until it become soft and thick.
·        Once it is done add banana or any other fruits if u like.
Done !..oats kesari is ready…
                            

                           



Serve hot or cool J

Healthy Oats Upuma



        Healthy Oats Upuma:
Ingredients :
·        Oats – 1 cup
·        Onion – 1 small finely chopped
·        Green /red chilli – 2 chopped
·        Turmeric powder – ¼ spn
·        Sambar powder – ½ spn
·        Water – ½ cup
·        Salt as needed
·        Coriander leaves
To Temper :
·        Oil – 2 spn
·        Mustard seeds – 1 spn
·        Urad dal – 1 spn
·        Channa dal – 1 spn
·        Curry leaves
Preparation :
·        Dry roast the oats in a heat pan for few mins until aroma comes.
Method :
·        Heat oil in a pan ,add all the tempering items.
·        Then add the chopped onions and fry until transparent.
·        Next add chilli and curry leaves and sauté for few mins.
·        Then add turmeric powder,sambar powder,salt along with water.
·        Allow it to boil till raw smell goes off.
·        Add the oats and mix well.
·        If required sprinkle little water.
·        Stir continuously until it cooked well
·        Cover and cook for few mins.
·        Switch off the flame Done!
·        Garnish with coriander leaves.
                       


You can add any vegetable like carrot,potato,beans ,peas of your choice to make more colourful and more tasty.

Oats Porridge - an Energy Booster




        Oats Porridge – an Energy Booster:

          A  perfect way to start your day! Oatmeal is one of the vegetarian food that boosts metabolism and also helpful for weight loss. Here i have added some nutritious nuts and dates to make oats porridge more healthier and more taster.. J  
                                  


Ingredients :
·        Oats – ½ cup
·        Milk – ½ cup
·        Water – ½ cup
·        Cashew – 5 sliced
·        Almonds – 3 sliced
·        Raisins – 5 sliced
·        Dates – 2 finely chopped
·        Honey for taste
·        Salt a pinch

Method :
·        Take a saucepan, mix the oats with water and milk, cook till it thickens.
·        It should be thick but pourable consistency.
·        Sprinkle a pinch of water and add the  sliced cashew ,raisins ,almonds and chopped dates.
·        Mix well. Keep stirring to prevent it from forming lumps and getting burnt.
·        Simmer it for 2-3 mins…Done !
