Dalcha for Veg Biriyani by using Pressure Cooker :
Ingredients :
·
Tur
dal / Thuvaram parupu – ½ cup
·
Channa
dal / Kadalai paruppu – 4 spn
·
Onion
– 1 big
·
Tomato
– 1
·
Ginger
garlic paste – 1 spn
·
Turmeric
powder – ¼ spn
·
Green
chilli – 4
·
Potato
, carrot , chow chow , raw manga – 3 cups
(cut into small pieces)
·
Brinjal
– 2 small cut lengthwisw
·
Sambar
powder – 1 ½ spn
·
Tamarind
paste – 1 spn
·
Salt
as needed
·
Coriander
leaves for garnish
For seasoning:
·
Oil
/ ghee – 2 spn
·
Curry
leaves – few
·
Cinnamon
– 2 bits
·
Star
anise – 2
·
Cloves
– 2
·
Bay
leaf - 1
Preparation :
·
Soak
the dals together in water for 30 to 45 mins.
Method :
·
Heat
oil in a pressure cooker, add the seasoning then add curry leaves and sauté till it turn crispy.
·
Then
add chopped chili and ginger garlic paste sauté for few secs.
·
Then
add chopped onions and sauté till turn pink.
·
Then
add the chopped tomatoes and sauté well till they turn mushy
·
Next
add the soaked dal and all the veggies , turmeric powder and sambar powder.
·
Allow
it to boil.
·
Next
add the tamarind juice ,mix it well. If required add water.
·
Check
the salt.
·
Cover the lid of the pressure cooker and cook
it for 2 whistles. switch off the flame.
·
After
the pressure realeses completely, Garnish with coriander leaves. Done!
Yummy Dalcha is ready .serve
