Bengal Gram / kadalai paruppu Sundal



     Bengal gram /split channa dal / kadalai paruppu  sundal :

Ingredients :
·        Bengal gram / kadalai paruppu– ½  cup
·        Green chilli – 3 chopped
·        Ginger – ½ spn chopped
·        Salt as needed
·        Grated coconut – 3 spn (optional)

For seasoning :
·        Oil – 2 spn
·        Mustard seeds – 1 spn
·        Urad dal – 1 spn
·        Curry leaves - few

Preparation :
·        Soak the Bengal gram for 2 to 3  hrs.
·        Drain the water.
·        Boil 1 ½ cups of water in a vessel. Allow it to boil. Add the soaked Bengal gram , add enough salt and cook it for 8 to 10 mins or until it cooked.
·        Drain the water completely and keep it aside..
         
Method :
·        Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them crackle.
·        Then add urad dal , green  chilli pieces and ginger , sauté for few secs.
·        Then add curry leaves and sauté to turn crispy.
·        Then add the cooked Bengal gram.
·        Atlast add the coconut   and toss well.
·        Simmer it for 3 – 5 mins and switch off the flame..
                                   
 
Kadalai paruppu  sundal  is ready.. J
