3 in 1 Sambar ..( sambar for Idly / Dosa / Pongal)



    Sambar for Idly / Dosai / Ven Pongal  ( 3 in 1 sambar ):


          This is a yummy and very simple sambar  goes well with idly , dosa and Pongal.

Ingredients :

·        Moong dal – ½ cup
·        Onion – 2 medium chopped
·        Tomato – 1 chopped
·        Carrot – 1 medium(cut into small pieces)
·        Potato – 1 big (boil, peel and mash)
·        Turmeric powder – ¼ spn
·        Tamarind paste – ½ spn
·        Sambar powder – 2 ½   spn
·        Salt as needed
·        Coriander leaves for garnish


For seasoning:
·        Oil – 2 spn
·        Mustard seeds – ½ spn
·        Urad dal – ½ spn
·        Green chilli – 1 (optional)
·        Asafetida – a pinch
·        Curry leaves


Preparation :
·        Pressure cook the moong dal by adding turmeric powder for 2 whistle.
·        Mix well the tamarind paste in little  water and extract the juice.


Method :
·        Heat oil in a pan, then add the seasoning one after the another.
·        Then add the chopped onions and tomato, sauté for few mins.
·        Then add the carrot pieces, cooked dal,sambar powder,salt  along with enough water. check the salt.
·        Cover and cook it for 15 mins.
·        Atlast add the tamarind juice and mashed potato.cook it for 10  mins.
·         Garnish with coriander leaves. Done!
                          



3 in 1 sambar is ready.. serve hot J
