Spicy Chick peas sundal / Channa sundal / Kondakadalai sundal



     Spicy Chick peas / Channa / kondakadalai sundal :

Ingredients :
·        Chick peas / kondakadalai – 1 cup

To make a spicy powder :
·        Coriander seeds – ½ spn
·        Dry red chilli – 3 cut into pieces
·        Split channa dal / kadalai paruppu – 2 spn
·        Grated coconut – 3 to 4 spn

For seasoning :
·        Oil – 2 spn
·        Mustard seeds – 1 spn
·        Urad dal – 1 spn
·        Curry leaves - few

Preparation :
·        Soak the chick peas in water for 8  to 10 hrs.
·        Pressure cook it with little salt for 2 whistles
·        Drain the water completely and keep it aside.
·        Heat a pan , dry roast the coriander seeds, channa dal and red chilli for few mins and atlast add grated coconut and roast it slightly.
·        Grind them in a blender to a coarse powder.
         
Method :
·        Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds and let them crackle.
·        Then add urad dal , red chilli pieces and fry it becomes golden brown.
·        Then add curry leaves and sauté to turn crispy.
·        Then add the cooked chick peas and mix well.
·        Atlast add the grounded spicy powder  and toss well.
·        Simmer it for 3 – 5 mins and switch off the flame..

                                           

Spicy Chick peas sundal  is ready.. J
