Soya chunks Masala



   Soya  chunks  Masala:

          This masala  goes well with rasam rice, sambar and curd rice.
                                                   

Ingredients :
·        Soya chunks  – 1 cup
·        Onion – 1 medium chopped
·        Tomato – ½ piece chopped
·        Red chilli powder – 1 ½ spn
·        Garam masala – ½ spn (optional)
·        Salt as needed
·        Coriander for garnish

To  make a  masala paste:
·        Grated coconut – ½  cup
·        Pottu kadalai / chutney kadalai / roasted gram – 2 spn
·        Kasa kasa – 1 spn
·        Garlic – 4 sliced
·        Ginger – 1 inch

For seasoning:
·        Oil – 1 spn
·        Mustard seeds – ½ spn
·        Curry leaves


Preparation :
·        Heat water in a vessel or pan. Bring it to a good rolling boil. Add  the soya chunks and switch off the flame.
·        Don’t disturb it for 15 mins after that drain it in a colander . wash it with lots of cold water (to  remove the smell).
·        In a blender, grind all the masala ingredients with little water and make the fine paste.

Method :
·        Heat oil in a pan, add mustard seeds when it splutters, then add curry leaves and saute till it crisp.
·        Then add the chooped onions and tomato and sauté for few mins.
·        Then add the masala paste  and sauté well till raw smell goes off.
·        Next add red chilli  powder, salt and enough water. Cook it for 10 mins.
·        Then add the half cooked soya chunks, mix it well.
·        Cover and cook it  till the masala thickens . Done!

Garnish with coriander leaves.

Soya  Masala  is ready .serve hot with steamed rice.. J
