Brain - Boosting Brahmi Leaves Curry



    Brain –Boosting Brahmi Leaves Curry:


          Brahmi leaves or vallarai keerai is a herb with lots of medicinal value. It helps to boost memory power. Brahmi leaves are usually advised to kids who are dull in their studies..
                         


Ingredients :
·        Brahmi leaves/Vallarai leaves – 1 cup
·        Toor dal or channa dal or moong dal – ½ cup
·        Onion – 1  chopped
·        Tomato – 1 chopped
·        Garlic cloves – 4
·        Chilli red/green – 4
·        Turmeric powder – ¼ spn
·        Tamarind paste – 1 spn (optional)
·        Salt as needed,sugar - 1spn
·        Water – 1cup


For tempering :
·        Oil – 1 spn
·        Mustard seeds – 1 spn
·        Asafoetida- a pinch
·        Urad dal – 1 spn
·        Channa dal – 1 tsp
·        Red chilli – 1

Preparation :
·        Clean ,wash and cut the vallarai leaves. Discard the stem.
·        Pressure cook the toor dal along with green leaves , tomato ,chillis, garlic, turmeric powder and salt needed with 1 cup of water for 5 whistles.
·        When the pressure cools down, mash the dal mixture.Grind the mixture in a mixer.keep it aside.

Method :
·        Heat oil in a pan and add the tempering items.
·        Add the ground dal mixture and stir well. Mix well everything and add water if needed.
·        Check the salt . Add spn of sugar to avoid its bitterness.
·        Cook it for 2 mins and change the curry into serving vessel…done !
                                               
Serve hot with rice.  J
